Acne

What is Acne?
Acne (Nodular cystic, inflammatory Acne, Acne marks) occurs when sebaceous glands are over active and dead skin builds up and clogs pores. This coupled with bacterial overgrowth due to stress, sweat and makeup results in comedone (blackhead) formation, pimples and cystic acne.
Acne start to appear on the face, back and chest following puberty due to the increase in female and male hormone levels. This can persist into adulthood and affects every individual’s self esteem and confidence. With the acne comes inflammation, pain and redness and leaves acne scars if left untreated, resulting in permanent acne marks and scarring.
Ways to Treat Acne

Carbon Laser
Carbon Laser uses a fine carbon powder which is applied to the skin allowing it to penetrate into the pores and a surfacing laser is passed several times over the skin. The laser gently heats up the carbon powder which then tightens the pores from within, resulting in a clearer, smoother complexion and radiant glow.

Dual Yellow Laser
Dual Yellow Laser uses copper bromide technology to target inflammation and blood vessels, reducing the redness that accompanies acne and makes the skin appear more fairer. It also fades the appearance of post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH) which are red/purple/brownish marks left on the skin after injury.
The emitted green and yellow laser beams are proven effective for treating and clearing melasma by preventing the production of melanin at its source. This means it also helps keep melasma from recurring.
Overall skin becomes less sensitive to the environmental factors such as heat from the sun or cold weather, with less flushing and reactive redness.
There is no downtime and treatment is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive ones.

Hydrafacial and Basic Facials
Hydrafacial and Basic Facials help to clear closed and open comedones (whiteheads and blackheads) and prevents further acne breakouts from occurring. We employ a 4-step approach to better skin through cleansing, exfoliation, multi-masking, and deep hydration. Not only will your skin look refreshed you will also benefit from the pampering experience.

Steroid Injections
Steroid Injection is used to quickly treat nodular cystic acne and prevent the occurrence of permanent scarring. As the cystic acne tends to be deep in the layers of skin and also damage surrounding tissues due to inflammation, the end result is often a depressed (atrophic) scar or keloid (raised) scar.
To prevent this, we utilise the anti-swelling and anti-inflammatory properties of steroids and inject it directly into the acne lesion. Almost immediately the swelling subsides and along with it redness and tenderness. The course of the inflammation process is halved and the pimple heals in 2-3 days.
